Getting By?

      Praxis is proud to be working with the Getting By? project in 2014. Getting By? aims to tell the story of  thousands of working families who are struggling on low incomes in the face of everything from wage freezes and welfare cuts to spiralling energy costs and cuts in essential services. Starting in the next few weeks, the year-long project will use personal stories and a team of community researchers to shine a light on the experiences of 30 Liverpool families as they cope with the realities of life in 21st century Britain. Liverpool Mayor’s Hope Conference

Praxis reported the outcomes of the Hope conference in July 2013 aimed at tackling poverty in the City and is working with the Mayor’s Poverty Action Group. This follows on from our work in helping facilitate the work of the Liverpool Fairness Commission and in reporting its findings in June 2012. Merseyside Hate Crime Conference 2012

  Praxis team members Paul Kyprianou and Kath Hennell facilitated this event, held at the Crowne Plaza, Speke in November 2012. The conference was attended by a wide range of delegates engaged in supporting the victims of hate crime, in prevention and awareness raising, policing and convicting of perpetrators. Nearly 100 people took part including elected Members, Police Officers, representatives from Registered Social Landlords (RSLs), voluntary sector agencies and statutory organisations from across Merseyside. Wirral NHS – Quitting the Habit

We are delighted to have been awarded our fourth annual contract to monitor smoking prevalence amongst some of the poorest areas in Wirral. Previous studies have shown a steady reduction in the number of regular smokers. The study also looks at quitting behaviour and the motivations behind the high numbers who want to quit the habit.
